I have a HUGE fever-blister and it hurts really bad, any advice on how to cure it?

i had a softball tournament, and it was 39 degrees outside and i didnt have a jacket and i just took a shower..............so i got a fever.........then a fever blister showes up on my lip. It was small at first but now its huge.

The term fever blister is a euphemism. The eruption at the edge of your lip is an outbreak of Herpes and had nothing to do with your behavior at the softball tournament. Since you now have it you need to understand that it cannot be ';cured.'; You can go to your doctor and get a topical medicine (called acyclovir, I think) to treat the flare-up that will occur from-time-to-time throughout your life. You can also buy an over-the-counter drug (my best results have come from Abreva) to treat the symptoms. Best results from all these drugs is when to start using them as soon as you begin to feel that telltale ';tingle'; that signals the onset that will cause the skin surface to erupt. Don't touch it buy Lipactin apply often it works but you must be patient tho they take like two weeks to fully go away longer if you screw with it.To prevent getting any in the future don't scratch around the lip area your inviting one to come out and keep your lips moisturized with chap stick with minimum 15 spf apply often especially when in cold or out in the hot sun.Once blisters are out and full of liquid it's to late apply the Lipactin until it's gone when you feel tingling put some on immediately and it should suppress it from coming out.Good Luck
There is nothing you can do once the fever blister has shown to make it go away. Usually when I feel one coming I put Abreva on and it never sprouts. However you can take the pain away by putting ice cubes in a bag wrapping it in a paper towel and putting it on your mouth. It will dull the pain.
Fever blisters are helped by the bacteria found in yogurt - lactobasilous (sp?). When I get one I eat lots of yogurt, bathing my lip with it and it usually starts to clear the same day.
