Was this bad advice I gave my son?

My son is 21 and he is quitting his job at McDonald's to attend Yale. All of his coworkers are people who never attended college. I told him not to tell them that he is going to Yale, but to tell them he is just going to college and when they ask which one tell them you're still deciding. I dont want them all jealous. Do you think this was bad advice? Was this bad advice I gave my son?
No Ms. I am a mom too and my son is 22 years old, girl. I would have said the same because you have people who as they say are ';HATERS' and your son deserves more out of life, let him reach for the stars. I am proud for your son. Ms. Mom you told him right, I raise my son by myself and he is servicing this country and I also live in the projects and like I said I live here I am not part of what goes on in the PJs so be proud and move on :)

P.S. always talk to your children, and keep it real do not be afraid to speak your mindWas this bad advice I gave my son?
I think you should tell your son to be honest with people.Good people would be proud of him and happy for him. Jealousy is not a good trait and maybe it would help the people still working there to realize that maybe they too can go to Yale.I think honesty is always the best policy.I think if I worked at Mcdonald's, I would be proud and happy to know that my coworker was going off to a greater life...
I understand where you're coming from. its best not to brag about things like that. i don't see whats so wrong with it. you were just thinking of others feelings. some people simply can't afford to get into college.
i dont think so, I mean they are just coworkers, not his friends right? and he is quitting, you were just trying to make him act humble and protect him from possible jealousy. I think you did good.
No, it's probably better... And in the end, does it really even matter? He'll be getting a good education at Yale and probably never see his ex-cowrkers again.
no. it's no ones business.

the less your co-workers know about your personal life the better off you are.
nope honestly i dont think it was a bad advice u dont want people being jealous and bringing you down he is doing well for him self why not keep it low for a while
he should'nt tell them at all till he leaves but it was pretty good

good job mama
