Anyone have good advice for someone with really bad acne?

my sister is 21 and has really bad acne and it bothers her terribly. she has tried special diets, birth control pills, proactiv, murad, and microdermabrasion. has anyone had any success treating bad acne? any good/bad experiences with acutane?Anyone have good advice for someone with really bad acne?
For really bad acne, nothing over the counter will help. Accutane cured my acne problem. It is some pretty nasty stuff though, requiring me to get my blood tested monthly for normal liver function.Anyone have good advice for someone with really bad acne?
ok so first of all youre sister needs to ';qualify'; for accutane because it can be a very dangerous med that causes severe depression leading to suicide in certain people so a doctor will only give it to her if she has severe acne. accutane worked for my boyfriend who broke out horribly on his back and it cleared his skin up beautifully but like they say it is very strong and therefore can cause complications. have her consult a doctor about it though. other than that all i can recommend is a good skin care regimen. wash your face twice daily. no more than that because it can cause your skin to overproduce oil to make up for what you are taking away. and use a toner and a light moisturizer. and also have a healthy diet. i know that chocolate and junk doesnt make it worse but it is always good to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. i hope she finds a solution i know how acne can be such a pain. good luck!
The only thing that worked for me is Accutane, but 3 years later I'm now breaking out again, which makes me cry :( I may go on it again, not sure what else to do!
I had the same problem. I took an oral antibiotic, used Desquam wash (not sure of spelling) as well as used a gel nitely called Differin Gel. Today there is no clue what terrible skin I had. It doesn't clear overnite, but within a week you will begin seeing results and before you know it, your skin will look as though you never had an acne problem...
Mix (1 tsp) honey with 1/2 (tsp ) of cinnamon powder and leave it on the skin for 15 minutes.I found this facepack

very effective for my acne prone skin. I came across a lot of simple and natural remedies for treating and preventing acne at http://acxe.info

Tea tree oil(available at health stores) brings dirt and oil to the surface-but be careful, the pimples really dry out-so tell her to moisturize. Going in a sauna helps you sweat all the dirt from your pores. The main culprit is poor diet-excessive amounts of processed foods, fried foods, dairy, meat and sugar. Eat a diet low in fat and protein, and high in complex carbs. Good foods for the skin are rich in vitamins A and C, beta carotine and chlorophyll, as well as water. The most important nutrient for the skin is chromium. It balances blood sugar and lowers stress. Zinc is good for the skin as well. Exercise to reduce stress which affects skin. I also noticed that I had some bad pimples and I was drinking alot of diet coke. Eat and drink things as close to their natural state as possible.
Acne is one of the most distressing and depressing problem. Soak cotton wool in mint juice, and apply every day. Mix cinnamon powder with lime juice to make a fine paste, Apply on the spots and wash when dry .Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.
