Hi everyone. I have a friend who is in a community college where he did poorly. He wants to start again but his GPA is so low it will take him too long to work up to apply to a university. Can he just go to another community college and start out as a new student? (of course losing all his credits).College Advice: How to put bad college grades in your past?
what your friend can do is retake the class that he did poorly in or transferCollege Advice: How to put bad college grades in your past?
Well, unfortunately, our pasts sometimes haunt us, don't they! If your friend did poorly a long time ago, he may able to take advantage of 'Fresh Start.' That is a program for people who are in the same place as your friend...but the work must be ten years old or older and you can't pick and choose: it's all gone or nothing gone. The Admission office will have forms.
If the work isn't that old, there are two choices: repeat the courses or start taking other courses and work at it until the gpa comes up. When you repeat courses, only the most recent grade will count toward the gpa and transfer. The old grades will always show up on a transcript, but will not be computed in the gpa.
Good luck! Your friend's best resource is an advisor or counselor at his college.
