Why is it a good advice? Is still a good advice if the person adopting the it a bad person? ';just be yourself'; seems like a justification for not changing yourself for the better. When people do something wrong, they justify it by saying that I am who I am.Is the advice ';just be yourself'; a bad advice?
it's not bad advice, it's just that people misunderstand it. When people say ';be yourself';, they're not encouraging you to be a bad person. It's just telling you to stop wishing you were someone else. Stop comparing yourself to other people, repressing your own individuality, you're own tastes, interests, and trying to be others. It makes you awkward and so self concious, because your afraid of being different and being rejected by society. When you are yourself, it's okay to do something weird and different from other people - you don't have to be the same as them. You feel comfortable in your own skin, especially when amongst others. You are also happier, because you are fulfilling your own desires. But it does not mean you cannot change yourself for the better, and it's DEFINITELY not justification for being a bad person. becoming a better person is the next step. it means to first accept who you are as a whole (both good and bad qualities), and to have the courage to look within, accept your faults and to work on them (as an individual). You don't have to give up your whole personality to be a better person - you already have a ton of good qualities in you. Just work on the ones that are pulling you back.
A balanced human being is one that loves the good traits they already have, and works toward the traits they would like to improve on.Is the advice ';just be yourself'; a bad advice?
Depends on wut yourself is... now if your just a complete duschbag asshole fuckwad any of those then its probobly bad advice!
Because you should never deny who you really are. It's all about personal pride and dignity.
I know!!! This is what I thought about before. What I think some people mean by ';Just be yourself'; is don't pretend to be someone you're not. It doesn't have to mean don't try to make positive changes in yourself, I guess. But yeah, people should try to be a good person and improve themselves especially if they're bad.
It's not bad advice. It's just so simplistic and repetitive nowadays, that people tend to take the meaning for granted. In a nutshell, ';be yourself'; is an urge to not let anyone dictate your feelings and be who you wish to be. The advice is not saying - ';Do not change anything about you, even if it's a weakness hindering your abilities.'; It is merely saying that you should act upon any traits within you. If that includes acting upon the force that tells you to change bitterness and negative traits, so be it. The phrase is believed to refer to it all.
yeah!
the world and I are constantly changing.
Only way to win is to stay a few steps ahead of the next turn of the world.
yeah
because who are you?
how do u kno that ur personality is the way it is?
why?
is this just a rendering of how i think i should act, or a rendering of what i really am
