What is an example of really bad advice? And why do people give it?

Let me give an example: ';Girl, he's not treating you like the goddess you are. You need to dump him.'; This is wrong on many levels, some of which are: we're human beings, not gods/goddesses, and we deserve respect, not worship. Plus, the one who tells you the loudest to dump him will be first in line for him when you do!
