Do you think anyone has ever died because of bad advice on Yahoo Answers?

OK, I am always seeing uneducated people give crappy advice that they're not qualified to give. But in some certain sections, like Health or Electronics, I see people give advice that is downright dangerous!





Like telling someone that their cancer can be cured with fruit juice fasts, or that it's okay to pour water on an electrical fire....





Things like that.





I'm willing to bet yes, what do you think?Do you think anyone has ever died because of bad advice on Yahoo Answers?
Gawd! I hope people have more smarts and know to go to the doctor!


That's a scary question. If you hover your cursor over my avatar, you'll see that I do spend most of my time in the Health categories. But I ALWAYS tell people to see their doctor! But some of the other answers........well, it's scary.

Yahoo answers take no responsibility for anyone using the information given on this website. Yes, I have seen the answers you have seen also. This is supposed to be a friendly, fun, family website. Until Yahoo gets really serious and make their guidelines stronger and enforce them, you will just have to put up with the stupidity of the people using the website. If you see something really wrong, report it under the abuse button and MAYBE yahoo will delete it.
I answer a lot of questions in mental health regarding suicide and mental health questions. If they say they are suicidal I say call 911 NOW. As for the questions about '; do you think I'm depressed'; I get so mad at the IDK's or no man just talk a walk. I always tell them to go to their DR and have him/her refer them to a properly trained professional that will diagnose them , not to rely on medical advice from people on YA. Even a DR on Ya can't diagnose over the Internet.There was one person that said they felt like killing themselves and one of the answers was'; Go ahead. the world is too over populated anyway '; ! Why do people even ask health or mental health questions on here? They should call their Dr. !
i bet so! I wouldn't want to be traced to a bad answer that i gave that somebody followed and got killed somhow by it (bcuz they could sue, and that could get ugly) but i've never given any bad advise like that. the closest to doing that that i've come is giving sombody bad hair advice (like telling them to curl it when it probly would look better straight sense i dont have any training like that) so ya....
No but many have been driven insane
I doubt it. Some people lack common sense.
