I'm mainly thinking doctors who give bad advice on breastfeeding and infant nutrition? From my own experience, and talking with other moms, alot of doctors are using really outdated information.
Is there any other way to hold them accountable for the bad advice that they give?Is it illegal to start a list of doctors who give bad advice?
How do you determine it's ';bad'; advice?
There are some mothers that think childhood vaccinations are bad while others think they are good.
How are the mom's held accountable for believing junk science?
In other words, the list sounds like a bad idea.Is it illegal to start a list of doctors who give bad advice?
I guess a doctor is qualify to recommend,,, but lets face it if he or she has not breastfeed a baby,, they don't have a real idea of what is like,, I would not start a list saying the are giving bad advise cause that can give you a real legal problem, if you are asking a foot doctor to give you advise on breastfeeding, of course you are not going to get the best answers,, my ogyn send me to a class with midwifes and they were great, there were different methods of holding the baby, different masages for the breast to clear the milk ducts,, is better to research with midwifes that are certified that with other moms who might not had to breastfeed their kids or they have grown kids and have forgot how to do that,,, I have 2 toddlers and breastfeed them each 6 months,, hope this helps you and gives you some peace of mind.
A so if some of that stuff they recommend did not work for you, it does not mean they are wrong,, it maybe better to let go of the grudge i suspect you are having with this issue specially if you are breastfeeding right now,, if you get really really upset your milk will not be good for your child,, hope you can get the peace you need, bye
doc are not perfect
Yes, it is defamation!!! And you can be sued. Report them to the proper authorities, and let them deal with it.
I wouldn't do that if I were you. You can, but you may be liable for Libel and/or Slander in Civil Court. I suggest you just tell others of your own experiences. Leave other doctors out of it if you haven't had direct personal experience with them.
Those authorities have their own political agenda and are not considered ';Authorities'; by every member of the medical community.
I would be VERY cautious in starting a grip site like this since you will be liable for suits of libel.
ADDED:
Again, those are your or the organization's standards. Unless the AMA has cited the physician for negligence or failure to provide sufficient care, it's a matter of personal opinion and you are treading on very dangerous ground.
These organizations have nothing whatsoever to do with licensing and continuing education of a physician or in granting the physician priviledges.
Okay, you've gotten some crummy answers here, haven't you?? Yes, a list like that, however appreciated it would be by some moms/dads/anyone, would probably get you into legal trouble. But I completely agree with you that a lot of doctors are using outdated info, and something should be done. But as to what, I'm not sure. Even a list, if that were okay, would not help us all. I live in such a small area, that we really don't have a lot of choices about who to go to, so it's really up to people to either do the proper research themselves, or blindly trust their doctors as ';professionals';. The recommendation that you just find a doctor who's 'been through it' is ridiculous. How many family practice doctors (which is pretty much all we have in our area) have diabetes, arthritis, breast cancer, yeast infections, have breastfed, are depressed, have given birth, are circumcised or not, have asthma, etc.? Jeeesh.
freedom of speech baby!!
start a website, and have other moms contribute.
