I want to cancel my CABLE TV but I'm afraid of getting bad reception....Any advice?

I want to cancel my DirectTV subscription - the cable was part of a package that included DSL and my landline. I live in Queens, NY, where there are more houses than skyscrapers. If I cancel, can I still use my old rabbit ears to get good network reception? Will cancelling cable affect DSL in any way? Some of these answers are correct.. however, you will not need cable but you will need a digital converter beginning in 2009. Everything will be broadcast digital. There is a number you can call and it has been advertised a lot. Check with your present cable company and see what your options are. But there will be no more just antenna reception. I've done that, and they over charged me because i canceled it early my advice to you is to see when you contract/deal is over and you won't have any problems. But also try talking to a representative from the cable company and see if they can give you more info and/or give you a deal to solve this problem.
I would say to simply disconnect your cable right now. Take it out of the back of your TV and see if you get good reception before you cancel. then you can see how your signal will be. If it's good then cancel, if not then you can make the choice accordingly. Good luck!!

Haven't you heard that rabbit ears aren't going to work any more come next year. Everybody will need cable to see T. V. at all.


Before you cancel cable unhook it to see if it will work with rabbit ears.
You might not want to do that since all stations will be converted to digital cable in a few months. Anyone that still uses antennas or rabbit ears will just see a blank screen or white fuzz. Keep your cable cause everything is going digital.
On Feb 17 2009 all the over the air TV will be digital. Then if you can get any signal at all, the picture will be great.


The easiest thing would be to give up TV and start reading or jogging. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it all all.
If you don't want bad reception, don't cancel your cable TV, idiot!
