I got a bad sunburn this past weekend (in a place where....ok....it's my *coughs* chest area).
My friend said ';Use Apple Cider Vinegar and you won't peel and the sting will go away!';
So, at home (when no one was looking) I put vinegar on my sunburned *coughs*!
Now, not only is it WORSE...but I smell like a pickle jar.
What do you tell people when they say...';So, did you try that trick I told you about?';
(((((hugs))))) but not too close! lol
`How do you deal with bad advice?
I flat out tell them - Girl What??? That stuff stung, my burn feels kinda worse and I think I smell like pickles! (but I'd do it in a laughing but you know I'm serious anyway kind of way - because people giving advice are trying to be helpful)
I had a bad sunburn once and my aunt told me to put egg whites on it - my skin was so red hot it practically fried the eggs! It doesn't work. AT ALL.
I wish I knew what to tell you to do, pure aloe vera is the best, next best would be a solarcaine brand aloe gel - and TIME.
Hope the burn is better soon.How do you deal with bad advice?
there are very few people i take advice from.......... i can get in to trouble all by my self without anyone ele's help............
just doan rub ham on it. ty
Pickle jar?! LOL. I'm sorry to hear that and hope you will get better soon. As for the bad advice I would tell the person the truth so he will be careful to give it to others, by this way I will not harm others. for example, if this bad advice goes to somebody else and those people who gave advice tell them how it worked with you, what would you say?
you can tell them the truth in a very sweet way, I have no doubt in you.
Ouch!!! Really, like the guy said - Use aloe. It is like God for the skin. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated, bathe in cool water and don't use aggrivating soaps. And stay out of the sun!!!
You lie. Plain and simple. Or if your pissed - ';it didn't F*n work, you idiot.'; lol
i'd come at 'em with a stick
I don't remember the bad advice. It usually goes out the other ear. The good advice I do remember. For instance - The measure of a man is proportional to the size of his heart. My wife loves the size of my heart.
That poor dear has been watching too many episodes of Bay Watch or Bondi rescue. It used to be common practice to squirt Blue Bottle stings with Vinegar but we, (as in, not me but Surf Lifesaving Australia) now know that vinegar provides no good relief. It has never been good for sunburn. YOu should just say so... preceded by ';Gazpacho said:';
Sunburn is treated like any other burn. Run those ta~tas under cold water for half an hour or so..... (you can leave your T-shirt on... I always advise this as a matter of common decency). All jokes aside.. cold water is the recommended remedy .. not ice.. It's never ice. More's the pity from my perspective.
Following this treatment, you can purchase some spray on antiseptic that should numb them (not in a numb, numb, numb Peter Sellers kind of way). .. but the antiseptic stops infection should the skin blister and the numbing sensation is kinda relieving.. at least it is for me.
So, I hope this helps... the stinging will go away in a couple of days... and you will be back to your brilliant self. :-)
I tell them what they told me didn't work and I tried something that did work. Why lie to comfort them. There is always nice ways to say things so it doesn't sound like your being mean to them.
Buy a aloe plant, those are good for so many things beside burns.
I don't ask for advice on here....when I really want to know something I go on-line and visit various sites until I find something that sounds practical.
lol, I just smile and say something kind. What can you do, right Pickles??
J/K I couldn't resist! ((((hugs))))
added: I was thinking the very same thing!! lol
I give them a good one as a feedback.
I'd start with asking if they actually ever tried it before giving you the advise. In most cases I ignore bad advice, but in this instance I'd start with the above and if they said yes I'd be stumped, and say no it didn't work for me. If they say no, then it would be why tell me that if you hadn't tried it. As to sunburn, use aloe or cold cream or noxema.
you neglected to add the baking soda.
Try to be nice, I'm sure they meant well.
(((((PICKLES))))) ; ) LOL
The best thing to do with bad advice is to give it to someone else :)
Yeah I tried it and now I have pickled coughs. IDK
I know this sounds crazy too, but the E.R. told me to soak brown paper bags in milk and lay it across the sunburn, feels good.
Once, after ';someone'; killed my enormous snake, I was beside myself with grief.
So I asked my friend Rexor for advice on how to deal with my woe, - and he said I that I should take a trip with him and some friends to the ruins just outside of Thulsa Doom's Mountain of Power...
That was NOT good advice, I can assure you...
...(my chest hurts just THINKING about it)...
-
How to deal with bad advice....Don't goto church
I crush anyone who gives me bad advice.
I hung on the ';tree of woe'; for three days, and was terribly sunburned. I rubbed some aloe on it, and I'm much better now.
I'll be happy to rub some aloe on your ';sunburn';, for you are truly of the finest stock.
CROM!!!
sniff, sniff, sniff,,,,I smell
................dilled nippies..............
oh sweet pickle fantasy
LOL
