Any good or bad advice about the depo shot?

Im going to get the Depo shot tommorow and just wanted to know if anyone had any good or bad advice to tell me about the shot?before i make my final decision Im 21 and healthy but i do smoke and i have 2 kids I want NO more and i think the shot will be the most convient and safest type of BC ...i am married so not worried about STDS please help w any experience or adviceAny good or bad advice about the depo shot?
They do not recommend the Depo Provera for long periods of time. They do contribute to bone lose. This is not reversible. If you do smoke and start taking the Depo Provera shot there is an increase of heart attack or stroke even at the young of 21. I personally would not recommend you get the Depo Provera shot.





From personal experience, I was on the Depo Provera shot for 1 year. Within that one year, I had Hot flashes everyday, I gained 25 pounds within 4 months of starting it and I was tired all the time and my sex drive went down a whole lot. I am 22 years old.





After stopping the Depo Provera within 6 months I lost 30 pounds and the hot flashes disappeared. I started to get my energy back and my sex drive tripled. So I know it was the shot that had affected me.

I was on that for about 3 years. I liked the fact that i didn't have a period at all the whole 3 years. but it has more down falls than ups.





1. I gained crazy weight on it.


2. headaches.


3. when you decide to come off of it, your cycles are screwed up for a long time. It took me almost 2 years to have a normal cycle again.


I would try something else, I regret using this ever.
