Want to get my 7 month old's ears pierced. Any advice, good experience and bad experience stories?

I went to Claire's today, but their earrings do not have screws at the back, although they say it is impossible for the infant to take off the stopper. Wal-mart earrings have a screw on back. Then I've heard that a needle is safer because it can be sterilized whereas a gun cannot be sterilized. But where do you go to get a piercing with with needles? Please share your experiences and any advise. Please do not answer if you are going to tell me how cruel I am. Thank you.Want to get my 7 month old's ears pierced. I'm not going to call you cruel, so hear me out:

It should be your daughters decision, not yours. I know babies with earrings look pretty cute, but it bothers me because it wasn't their choice. It would be kind of like piercing a dog.

In addition to that, a childs ears grow, and if they are pierced when they're a baby, some times (most times) the earring ends up looking wonky and close to the edge of the ear. It doesn't look very good.

If this doesn't deter you, please get it done with a needle by a professional. Guns are very dangerous and cause unnecessary trauma to the ear. The needle is extremely sharp and causes very little trauma, making it even easier to heal. Plus, places like claires don't have very high quality jewelery, and your baby could be allergic to the metal. My suggestion is titanium, it has the smallest amount of allergic reactions.Want to get my 7 month old's ears pierced. Any advice, good experience and bad experience stories?
Do it at the doc's office. Just can't take chances when it comes to your precious one.
MY mom pierced my ears when i was 3 days old with as needle. she also pierced my aunts an cousins.
I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was a baby. Later when she turned about 8 years old she put some cheap ones (from a girlfriend) and they got rapidly infected. There were big balls of pus and it was very painful for her. Also, my aunt was about 11years old when she had a fight and the other girl yanked it out. She needed a plastic surgeon to fix it. So, I come to this conclusion; let her decide what to do with her body. When she is about 12 or older she can at least make the choice about her body. After all, this is invasive surgery.
claires is a good place to get it done

crabtree and evelyn is by far the best though.... thats where i see the most infants taken
well, I got my daughters ears pierced when She was 5 And it was horrible for the first few weeks, Then she finally quit pulling at them and got used to the ideal, But When My Grandchild was born Her ears were pierced at 5 months old, It was so much easier to take care of, We had it done At A Shop Where we could make Sure it was Clean, And they Gave us a kit to make sure we had everthing we needed to care for them the kit even came with instructions, ,I hope this helps..Good Luck
i got my ears pierced when i was 2 months old

i think you should get a doctor to pierce your child's ear instead of some bozo at walmart...they went through walmarts crash course cbl
i got my oldest daughter ears peirced at 6 months, shes 5 now.we let them close up the first time...because she seemed uncomfortable sleeping...but we got them repeirced at about 3 years old.they say its good to get it done when there younger though...especially around the time they get lots of shots anyways!!!know what im sayin?? plus there sooo cute with little diamond studs.....lol
the best place to get your baby's ears pierced at is a doctors office , check with your baby's Dr . first if they don't call around they are out there and their alot safer then anywhere else. hope that helped.
With a piercing gun they have to use piercing studs, so the backs don't screw on. I don't know how walmart manages to have screw on backs. You'd probably get laughed out of a tat/piercing shop, and the jewelry they'd put in would probably be too large for an infant. An infant can't get the backs off those piercing studs, they lock in place pretty well because they have a notched post that the backs fit into.

In most states, a piercer can't pierce a baby (anyone under 18, even with parental consent).
Please, take it from me, a girl with 11 piercings in her ears, please do not go to Claire's or any other place in a mall. They are unclean and unsafe. My piercer is very honest and upfront with me, and will tell me if I shouldn't get a certain piercing even if he will lose out on money. He also told me some of the horrors of mall piercing places.

Depending on what city you live in, check for piecing places in your area where they use sterile needles. It's good if you see someone with crazy piercings in uncommon places even on their ears to ask them where they got theirs done or if they can recommend a place. Like for me, I have piercings in places like through the middle part of my ear through the cartilege part, and I don't believe you can do that sort of piercing with a gun.

I'm always willing to recommend a place to people who ask me about my piercings, so just try asking someone. If they don't want to be helpful, oh well.

Hope this helped. As you can see, I'm very adimant about safety, especially if this is for your baby. Hope the earrings look good! =)
skip the cheap places and talk to the nurse at the pediatrician's office.
I got my daughter's ears pierced when she was 3 months old. I don't think I would go to Claire's...try a reputable jeweler in your area. (I don't know much about the needle piercing)

Best of Luck!
My mom got all 3 of her girls' ears pierced when we were 6 months. She got mine done at the doctor. I don't know if they do it there anymore, but you should look into it.
