You need to return to the dentist as soon as possible, today if you can. You may not have a true infection, it's doubtful if you've takent he antibiotics as ordered. What you probably have is a dry socket. There should have been a nice clot form in the bone at the site where the bone used to sit. Without that clot, the bone of the jaw dehydrates, and it does hurt incredibly badly. The doctor can replace the clot and pack the wound. If this is the problem the relief will be nearly immediate. In your case, it's probably badly dehydrated and will take a bit longer to get full relief. Meantime, up your fluid intake, water preferably, but anything except soda and alcohol will do. And seeing the dentist.Had tooth out last week, its gone septic, nearly finished antibiotics, but its still bad. Any advice?
I'm not qualified to give advice, but I say see a doctor immediately, even if it means emergency room.
Dissolve some salt in boiling water and let it cool and wash your mouth out with it every couple of hours. Finish the antibiotics and if it still gets no better, go back to the dentist.
Go and see the dentist again!!!
Your best bet is to get to your dentist, or an ER, and FAST. The infection from your tooth, if not treated, can spread to other parts of your body and cause even more problems!
Personally, with the symptoms you describe, I wouldn't deal with the home remedies and the pain and just get to a professional who can help you cure it - not just cover the symptoms for a little while.
Yes call dentist. You need more antibiotics.
Meanwhile rinse your mouth/tooth area with a mouth wash that kills bacteria. If you don't have mouth wash use warm salt water rinses. Just put a bunch of salt in some warm water and then swish it around the bad tooth area.
Alternate mouth wash and salt water if you can.
Brush the area well frequently, but mostly call your dentist.
You should have gone straight back to the dentist.
ouch poor you! i would try gargling gently with salted water. but i think you should go see your dentist again. if the gums are inflamed still then you will need more antibiotics. and also he/she should check why the wound is not healing.
maybe you could check with your dentist again...
is it still swelling? would the wound inside your mouth still is inflammed?
^ if so, then there might be a superinfection, either a tooth, a root of the tooth, bony spicules are left inside or even a food debri is lodge inside, what you could do is gargle with chorhexidine based, povidone iodine based mouthwash.
there is no swelling, extraction site seems to be healed, yet the pain is very excruciating?
^check with your dentist, a probable dry socket may had occured, this way the dentist may put a dressing of sinc oxide eugenol material to cover the wound until it heals completely.
