To say ';go with the flow'; be bad advice?

i want to say i read somewhere that to go with the flow can lead to trouble and that's bad advice to take and it has stuck with me. would going with the flow make you a bit of a door mat? think about it when you answer... do you remember when someone was telling to go with the flow, you must have been speaking up, otherwise they wouldn't have said that

I think of acceptance of reality when I hear ';go with the flow';. It's not about being a follower or mindlessly accepting anything that comes our way. It's about accepting the things we can't control or change - i.e. reality - and then changing those things that can and should be changed. But never, never fight the river of reality. What a waste of time. Don't escalate negative energy with more denial and fighting. Let things and people be. Peace.To say ';go with the flow'; be bad advice?
It is more of an Eastern philosophy (like the previous 'Buddhism' answer.





My advice is to not take advice and not to expect it to be followed when given. Do your own thing!





Go with the flow is good when you want to blend in for whatever reason....

Actually, I think it's a very buddhist concept -- floating along the river of life. It's good for managing stress, not so good for getting what you want. It all depends on how you define happiness and success. good luck!

Be a leader and follow nothing but your own nose. Trust in yourself.
No, its not bad advice, it just means that u should maybe have fun once in a while. Or maybe that you should take a break of things that stress you out.
Hell with the flow! I live in Southern California, and the';flow'; in this God forsaken hellhole is to be a snob and an A hole like everyone else here. I won't frigging do it!!!!!!

It is just a stupid hippie saying. If people around you have black slaves, you can go with the flow or be a maverick. Another way to say that is to not make waves or do not be an uppity nig***.
